EndNote: Exporting References from Text Documents

All your EndNote questions answered

Exporting from Text

As part of your research, you may find that you want to export the reference list of a document you're reading into EndNote. Or, you may have a hand-written reference list you created yourself that you'd like to convert into EndNote references.

Traditionally this was difficult, becuase neither Word nor EndNote could take a text reference and convert it into a file type usable by EndNote, such as RIS. But now there is a free web app called Citation Finder Vercel that will attempt to convert your text references into.RIS. All you need do is paste the references into the app and it will do the rest.

The quality of the results may vary depending on the format of the reference list and the style it has been created in.
