Australian private companies
It can be a little tricky to find information on Australian private companies.
- Generally speaking, small proprietary companies are not required to lodge their financials with ASIC. However, some basic information about private companies and their status can be accessed from the ASIC Registers for free.
- Large proprietary companies must prepare and lodge a financial report and a director's report with ASIC for each financial year. These documents can be accessed, usually for a small fee, from the ASIC Registers.
- A few databases (listed below) may contain information on private companies, including financial information.
- News articles from the Australian Financial Review (AFR) and Factiva could be another good source if the company was mentioned in the press.
