EndNote: Creating References Manually

All your EndNote questions answered

Entering References into EndNote Manually

Enter human author names as surname, first name. Eg: Walker, Jimmy.

Enter additional author's names on new lines. Eg:
Walker, Jimmy
Sreesanth, M. J.

Place a comma at the end of a corporate author's name. Eg:
Department of Finance,

If you don't have a date, enter n.d. into the date field

Enter page ranges as first page-hyphen-last page. Eg: 19-23

You don't need to enter titles in italics, or put article titles in inverted commas, etc. EndNote will do all of this for you.

When entering book and article titles, use a capital letter for the first word and any proper nouns only. When entering journal titles and website names, start all words with a capital letter except minor words such as: of, in, the, etc.

If you'd like to change the case of the text you've entered into EndNote you can do so on a PC with the hot key Shift-F3 (or Shift-fn-F3)
