This guide will help Journalism students find and evaluate key resources needed to successfully complete their assessments.

As Journalism students, you will be asked to use the APA 7th referencing style

What is referencing and why is it important? 

 

At university you are expected to reference information sources used in your assignments. Referencing is important as it:

  • gives credit to authors
  • shows that you’ve done your research  
  • means that others can find the resources you have used .

  • Newspaper & Magazines: Sections 2.11-2.16 (page 39-44)
  • Film & TV: Sections 4.07-4.14 (pages 70-77)
  • Podcast: Sections 4.03-4.04 (pages 66-67)
  • Radio Program/Interview: Section 4.05 (page 68)
  • Unpublished Sources (e.g., lecture slides, canvas, etc): Section 6 (page 95)

Tips: 

  • Most online newspapers and magazines have a printed equivalent with page numbers displayed. When this is the case, reference as a print version.
