Research data management

 

Effective management of your research information and data is a vitally important aspect of your project. It provides many benefits including ensuring that your information and data remain accessible and of value to both yourself and the wider research community beyond the lifetime of your project.

Definitions:

Research data: Anything that can be used to validate research findings or used to reproduce the research

Research data management (RDM): Practices you will engage in, and the decisions made, to manage research data. This includes how you will gather, organise, store, preserve and manage access to data

RDM Storage

 

UTS uses a Research Data Management Platform called Stash. It allows for the creation and storage of Research Data Management Plans (RDMPs), Archival Data Records and Data Publications. It can also link to workspaces that you use to collect, process, and store your data, which includes many of the platforms and tools provided by UTS eResearch.  

Data archiving and publishing

 

Archiving your data will ensure continued access for you and others should you choose to publish or share your data. You can place your data in managed archival storage by creating a Data Record in Stash. 

Publishing research data has emerged as a key part of the scholarly communication process because it promotes transparency, reproducibility, and the validation of research methods.
