Organising and Managing Information: Reference Styles

How to Organise and Manage your Information

Reference Styles

UTS Library supports a range of referencing styles including APA 7th and AGLC4. APA is generally suitable for most disciplines, while students studying law will typically use AGLC.

Research students at UTS are not obliged to use APA. Some disciplines such as engineering may favour a numbered referencing style such as IEEE, and others may prefer a footnoted reference style.

Although UTS library does not provide ‘official’ support for other referencing styles (there are far too many!), the library does provide help and guidance to individual research students regardless of their referencing style, so feel free to use the referencing style of your choice.

Tip: Your supervisor/s will be able to help if you are unsure which is the most appropriate referencing style for your work.
