Secondary Sources in Law : Finding Books Relating to a Legal Topic

This guide contains resources and guidance to help students find secondary legal materials.

Finding books relating to a legal topic

Books provide an overview of a topic or issue. They contain general background information and context and are very useful as a starting point for research, especially if you are new to the topic.

You can search for books in the Library Catalogue based on a title or topic.

For example, to find books on Australian contract law, go to the UTS Library webpage and enter contract law australia in the library catalogue's search box. You can then filter your results using the panel on the left of the screen.

Watch this short video for more tips on how to search the catalogue effectively.
