UTS staff and students have access to Microsoft Bing Copilot.
Copilot is a GenAI tool with ChatGPT 4.0 and DALL-E that generates text or image content based on your prompts.
It's free and easy to use, and if you log in with your UTS ID and password, you are able to access a protected version. This means that your data isn't being used to train the AI and your files and intellectual property are safe.
If you want to use generative AI to support your learning, this is the preferred tool.
Copilot is integrated into the Edge browser, so that is the best way to access it. Or you can access a limited version by going to the Bing search engine in any browser.
When you are using Copilot, make sure you can see the green "protected" icon at the top right hand corner of your page.
Have a look at the image below to see how this should look.
Try out Copilot yourself by using the link below or opening the Edge browser.
The Library has enabled 'Research Assistant', a new tool that helps you search in the Library catalogue. It is easily accessible from anywhere in the library catalogue, start a new search query from the menu bar or use the Research Assistant widget on the side of the screen, but you have to be signed in.
You can type a question into Research Assistant just like you would in Google and it will provide you with a summary based the top content held by the library. It will also give you links to the library resources, making it the perfect way to start researching a topic.
Unlike Chat GPT or other chat tools, Research Assistant is not able to carry a conversation or answer follow-up questions related to your initial query.
UTS does not currently have a subscription to Chat GPT-4o.
However you are able to access the free version, but note this is not protected!
