Statistics can be very useful to support your arguments in assignments and research.
Here are some recommended sources for health statistics:
Health
- Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS): Health The ABS is Australia’s national statistical agency, providing official statistics on a wide range of topic areas including health.
- Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) The AIHW holds valuable data on many health and welfare issues and topics.
- HealthStats NSW Brings together data from many sources to produce statistics about the health of NSW. Covers a range of health risk factors, diseases, locations, and specific populations.
- Our World in Data Free database of statistics, interactive data visualisations and articles on topics mapped to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- UNICEF UNICEF provides information on global health, particularly for children and adolescents.

It can be hard to find statistics as they are usually not found in databases. Government and organisational websites are good sources for statistics. However, a Google search can be the easiest way to find statistics for your topic.

It is important that you evaluate the statistics you find to make sure that they are high quality. Important things to think about are:
- Where did the statistics come from?
- Who published them?
- When were the statistics published?
