Strategic Publishing, Research Impact & Researcher Profiles: Tips for Promoting your Research

This guide covers scholarly publishing strategies, how to choose a journal, discusses Open Access publishing models, how to evaluate research impact, and provides tips around managing researcher profiles

Tips for promoting your research

  • Make sure your researcher profiles in various platforms (e.g., ORCID, Google Scholar, Scopus ID, Web of Science Researcher ID) are up to date and accurately list all your research outputs. This will make it easier for other researchers to find your work and potentially collaborate with you.

  • Strongly consider publishing in reputable Open Access journals so that your research is not sitting behind paywalls and people can access them easily.

  • At a minimum, deposit at least the author-accepted manuscript or a pre-print version of your research output in UTS OPUS.

  • Take advantage of UTS' Read & Publish (R&P) agreement, which will allow you to publish in Open Access journals without paying an Article Processing Charge (APC).

  • When discussing your research on online platforms, include the DOI of your paper so others can easily reference it and refer to it when sharing or re-posting.
